Spent the weekend in Prague Saturday and Sunday. My wife had a life threatening infection flare Sunday night while in the air. Admitted her into the hospital early Monday. She had surgery Tuesday (it went well) and she is recovering, I spent 3 hours in the office today and talked to like 30 people and I had a conversation with a headhunter about a gig across the country. How is your week going?

Hope she feels well soon. I’m doing fine. Power out at work on Monday and of course the UPS was dead by the time we arrived. Ran the network off generator for part of a day while they fixed it. Other than that just regular stuff. Went for a 21 mile bike ride today so that felt good. Oh, and I’m trying to push myself to start seeing this girl I know.

Your week sounds super busy.
I’m on days off, went and looked at trucks, and had a discussion with a financial adviser about saving for the future. Responsibility!

I feel burned out. Work is tough and I am struggling this month to bill enough.
But I am fortunate to have my health. I'm thinking of your wife and you

That’s kind. Thanks. I understand the burned out feeling.

See the girl. Life is short.

Save..ing? What does that mean?
![]() 05/08/2019 at 20:40 |

It means trucks, houses, and weddings instead of me going “oh fuck, I spent too much on candles”.

Yeah those things are expensive. Our wedding was basically free (immediate family only on public land) but housing here...well you know.

Yeah, and I won’t live in employer provided housing forever. I refuse to.
(fingers crossed for Melville and not going to Manitoba, otherwise that means two years in northern Saskatchewan to be able to move)

Have you ever considered the east coast? I have no idea what your job placement entails, but it’s very nice out there. I loved Nova Scotia.

Same deal, I have to do five years total and a remote posting to be releasable. One of my colleagues is being transferred to Newfoundland.
I considered it, but I need to be in a spot where my girlfriend can work as a vet. And east coast work is... not renowned for existing.

Certainly not that interesting, I can assure you. We’re all fighting chest colds and other seasonal ailments, I’m busy with school gigs for the symphony, our bathroom remodel should wrap up tomorrow. I did manage to get my air show pictures edited (from 1,500 down to about 90), and I’ve got a post about those coming tomorrow. You can get a sneak peak here if you like .
Glad to hear that Mrs. Sabre is feeling better. I hope this is the last bout with this.

It seems like delta is a good gig. It would be hard to give that up. I tell you tho the weather on the west coast is a lot nicer than hot-lanta.

Ah.. yeah. I mean, there are some decent upscale communities, but the work for her would be less.
My brother in law is in Richmond right now, I forget how long he was to stay there. He went through Depot last year.

Its been many years since I was looking forward to the end of the school year this badly. I need a break from this shit.
Glad to hear your wife is ok!

You do more by Wednesday than most people do all week !
My week has been junk.. (decisions made over the last 9 months by our latest management team are finally hitting the fan...) But, love your story, hope your wife is doing better and I greatly appreciate the perspective. While my week is frustrating it is not life threatening!

Richmond? He could be there a while. Which is probably good if he wants to settle down. Otherwise, he could probably transfer pretty easily around the lower mainland.

It’s the beginning of silly season in the housing market. I’m an appraiser and have been viewing homes non stop for the past few weeks. Gotta make hay while the sun shines. Right now I’m having my fav beers at a local brew pub. I pray your wife makes a full recovery.

Truth and I told the headhunter that. Delta has been very good to me. That said, if they make me an offer that I couldn’t refuse then I might end up a neighbor of Langley and Zoidburg. I’d be reporting directly to an SVP and four steps down from the CEO of a midsized airline. That would be a hell of a thing.

I emphasize about senior leadership decisions hitting the fan. Ready, shoot, aim is not a good plan. I’ve some of that recently as well.

Thanks for letting me have a peak. Great shots! I’ve made it clear to my wife that if we ever win a Lotto where we bring home over $200M that I’m buying a B-25. It’s good to make those expectations understood early.
I also hope this is the last bout of this. The surgeon said that only 2% of people who have surgery like she had in December have a relapse. Yea for her being in that 2%.

From a consumer standpoint I am a big fan of that mashup. They do their job well. I might make MVP status this year.

They are one of the carriers that I would entertain having this conversation with. They have a good, solid business and don’t seem to be run by clowns. I was approached by the one out of Chicago a few months ago and gave them the nope.

Thanks. It was a good day, and I’ve got the sunburn to prove it. In the 2%? Maybe you should go buy that lotto so you can grab your Mitchell. Are there any on the market?

There are usually a few for sale.

Condition: Used
I imagine so. You have to call for the price, though. That might be a bad sign.

My week has gone well...so well that it’s now deep into Thursday ! But I seem to have got quite a bit done even without adult supervision.
The Boss is away with work so it’s just me and the Lad. While he’s at school I keep on doing stuff around the house and block to bring it back into shape (Year 1 of a 10? year plan).
So far I’ve got the renovated chook house ready for a concrete floor which we’ll pour over the weekend then it’s a simple fitout of roosts and nests for their arrival on the 18th...
Hope your missus is back on her feet again soon. No-one needs to spend too long on hospital food!!
